Innovative Physical Therapy - Corona Virus Update

Coronavirus and Physical Therapy: Our Commitment to Patient Safety During COVID-19 Pandemic

UPDATE, October 28, 2020

It appears the United States is heading into a third wave of Covid19.  Maryland, currently is on a slow uptick in cases over the last two weeks.  With the winter months coming up and activities moving more indoors there can be an expected continued progression in Covid19 cases.

Innovative Physical Therapy has done an excellent job of continuing to follow all CDC protocols to protect our patients and staff. Our patients let us know they feel comfortable being in the environment we are providing them.  We are all very aware we've been dealing with this since March but unfortunately we do not make the timeline, to that end we want to emphasize the following procedures:

  • Masks are to be worn at all times in the clinic by staff and patients.

  • Patients who are provided transportation are required to wear a mask in the vehicle at all times.

  • Patients and staff are screened and temperature checked before entering each work day, before entering the vehicle or our physical locations.

  • Transportation vehicles are sanitized between patients.

  • Equipment are sanitized between use of patients.

Your health, safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out to us online, via email or phone, 443-512-8337.

UPDATE, MARCH 16, 2020

We consider each patient, team member and business partner as part of the Innovative Physical Therapy family. Your safety and health is our primary focus. Out of an abundance of care we have decided to temporarily close all of our locations starting Monday, March 16th, 2020 – reopening on March 30th, 2020.

There have been no cases of COVID-19 at Innovative Physical Therapy, however knowing that some people may be at higher risk for severe illness, such as older adults and those with chronic medical conditions, it is in the best interest of our patients and team members to temporarily close.

If you are a current patient your physical therapist will reach out to you via phone to reschedule and set up a home exercise program. In the interim, as our name states we will be innovative with our home care, offering free telemedicine / video conferencing for our current and new patients.

If you would like to video conference with one of our physical therapists, please reach out to us at 443-512-8337.

New patients are still welcome to call and schedule to start treatment April 16th. Our phone line, email and website remain open. We are here for you.

We also want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to the healthcare workers, local communities, and governments around the world who are working diligently to contain COVID-19.

The safety of our patients and employees is Innovative Physical Therapy’s top priority. We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are taking action based on guidance from public health experts.

In order to maintain a safe environment and address patient’s concerns, we are taking measures including:

  • Screening people at the front desk for flu like illness. If you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath (difficulty breathing) and have recently traveled to an area with widespread transmission of COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.  If the answer is yes to any of these questions, we will ask you to reschedule for everyone's safety and have you call your healthcare provider.

  • Closely monitoring the advice and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

  • Educating our employees on preventative measures provided by the CDC.

  • Increasing the frequency and extent of our cleaning practices, such as additional wipe downs of all hard surfaces including the exercise equipment, bathrooms and common areas.

  • Providing additional resources that are available to patients and employees including hand sanitizers, extra soap and paper towels in the restrooms.

  • Implementing heightened sanitation and hand-washing procedures for all employees.

What we encourage patients to do:

  • Wash your hands frequently and use a paper towel to dry.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze with a tissue, and then dispose of the tissue.

  • If you are sick and have fever or cough, we ask you call us at 443-512-8337 to let us know. We will gladly give you home exercises, be available to answer questions over the phone and reschedule you in two weeks.

Thank you for your patience and trust in Innovative Physical Therapy. Our goal is to ensure you remain confident in treating with us during these challenging circumstances and know that your health is a priority in everything that we do.
